Murray M. Bern, M.D.

Dr. Bern graduated from Tulane Medical School in 1970 and completed postgraduate training at the New England Deaconess Hospital and Boston City Hospital. He completed fellowship training in hematology and oncology at New England Deaconess Hospital and The Center for Blood Research in Boston. During this time he was an American Cancer Society Fellow and recipient of the American Cancer Society’s Junior Faculty Award. 

Dr. Bern is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology. He served as Chief of Hematology at New England Deaconess Hospital from 1977 until 1986, at which time he co-founded the Cancer Center of Boston. He specializes in disorders of the blood, benign and malignant, and treats other tumor types as well. 

Dr. Bern has published numerous articles, two books and lectures internationally. 

Dr. Bern is President and Chief of Hematology at the Cancer Center of Boston and served as Chief of Hematology and Oncology at the New England Baptist Hospital from 1999 to 2004.

Frank V. Coco, M.D.

 Dr. Coco graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1965 and completed postgraduate training at Boston City Hospital, Boston VA Hospital and Montefiore Medical Center in New York He completed NCI sponsored fellowship training in hematology at Boston City Hospital, Tufts and Thorndike Laboratories. 

Dr. Coco is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and medical oncology.  He has a special interest in professional and public education and holds teaching positions at various Boston medical schools.  He is on the speakers’ Bureau of the American Cancer Society and has been frequently interviewed for radio and television.  He has lectured and authored articles about ethical and quality of life issues as well as benign and malignant disorders of the blood and other tumor types. 

Dr. Coco is the Director of the Cancer Center of Boston’s Framingham facility and maintains an active practice at the Chestnut Hill location.  He serves as both Director of Medical Education and Section Chief of Hematology/Oncology at New England Baptist Hospital.

Jacob Lokich, M.D.

Dr. Lokich graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1964 and completed postgraduate training at San Francisco General Hospital and Peter Bent Brigham Hospital in Boston. He completed fellowship training in medicine at Harvard Medical School and Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. 

Dr. Lokich is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.  He has served as Chief of Medical Oncology at New England Deaconess Hospital. In 1986 he co-founded the Cancer Center of Boston. He has multiple areas of expertise including, but not limited to, the treatment of lung, breast and gastrointestinal cancer, treatment of rare tumors and lymphomas, clinical trials and innovative regimens using newly developed chemotherapy drugs.  

Dr. Lokich is the editor of five textbooks on cancer and has authored more 200 published articles. He speaks on the lecture circuit in the United States and at international symposia.
